Today's Assignments - Friday, June 5
Hi students,
Here are your required assignments for today.
01) Complete the daily attendance form
02) Watch the video mini lesson, "Reading Cladograms"
03) Play the Nova Labs Evolution Game.
This is what will be required in this game.
a) Watch the video, "Evolution 101"
b) Play Mission 1 - Training Trees
c) Missions 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 will be optional, extra credit assignments
04) Watch the first minutes of the video, "Completing the NOVA Evolution Lab." If you think you understand how to play the game and have a computer to play it on, you do NOT need to watch the entire video. If you do not want to do the extra credit assignments with the other missions, you can stop watching this video at 20 minutes.
05) Use the information from the video and game to complete the activity, "NOVA Evolution Lab - Evolution 101 / Mission 1"
Important notes about the Nova Labs Evolution Game:
a) Only Mission 1 is required. You are not required to do the others.
b) The game works on phones and iPads, but not very well. If you have a computer, use that.
c) If the game does not work on your device, I completed all of Mission 1 in the video "Completing the NOVA Evolution Lab." Instead of playing the game yourself, you can just watch that.
d) Everything after 20 minutes in the video, "Completing the NOVA Evolution Lab," is optional and about the extra credit assignments.
e) I will assign the optional extra credit assignments in a separate, upcoming post on Google Classrooms. I will not post the extra credit here on the web site - you must log into your Google Classroom to see it.
Today's Assignments - Thursday, June 4
Hi students,
The video mini lesson from yesterday was unusually long but very important so I won't assign much new work today. Make sure that you complete watching the video, "What Is Evolution" carefully if you have not already.
Here is what you should do today:
01) Complete the daily attendance form
02) If you didn't finish watching all of the video from yesterday, watch it.
03) Go to the NOVA Labs Evolution page and click "play game." Play around with it. It's a good idea to create an account. You DO NOT need to complete it all. You will get an assignment on Friday related to the game which will be for a graded, along with several extra credit opportunities. Again, please do NOT try to compete everything in the game - just play around with it for about 10-20 minutes.

Hi students,
We are officially finished with the unit on biotechnology and about to begin a new unit on evolution! Before we begin with a new topic, I wanted to give people the opportunity to catch up on work they missed or catch up on overdue assignments.
I went on TestWizard and opened up everyone's overdue assignments so that you can complete them. Please go on TestWizard and check now to see if you have any incomplete assignments. You may also complete any other assignments that you missed that were not given over TestWizard. Check to see if you have any zeros on PupilPath to see this.
Note that you cannot make up past missed office hours to get the extra credit for those days. Because those are extra credit assignments, a zero for that assignment does not hurt your grade.
Any late work needs to be turned in by the new date for the end of marking period 3, Friday, June 19!
Here are your assignments for today:
01) Complete the daily sign in form
02) Look on TestWizard to make sure that you haven't missed any work. If you missed assignments, you can complete them to improve your grade. You have until Friday, June 19 to submit any uncompleted work.
03) Join my office hours today at 10am and gain +10 extra credit points. Come with a questions and gain +15. Find the link to join on your Google Classroom page or email me for details at russelllibertyscience@gmail.com
